I learn from His Majesty's Minister at Peking that correspondence with the Consul-General at Canton relating to the question of the service of Writs of Summons issued by the Hongkong Courts upon Chinese defendants in China has been referred to Your Lordship.
I transmitted a copy of a Despatch from Sir John Jordan, enclosing copies of the correspondence noted in the margin, to the Chief Justice, and I have now to forward a copy of Sir F. Piggott's reply upon which I do not propose to take any action until I receive Your Lordship's instructions.
